Have you explored GABA as a sleep solution? If you've read about GABA elsewhere, you still haven't read the whole story because there is more than one TYPE, even if they look the same on the label.
Let me open this page by saying that I believe healthy lifestyle choices like diet and foundational supplementation can help many of the people who have trouble falling asleep and staying asleep. And apparently this is more than 50% of the population.
I also believe many issues can be addressed by correcting the biofield (that in fact many things aren't about nutritional deficiencies) and that you may find your sleep issues address with something like the Sleep infoceutical.
But no matter what, sleep is an ENORMOUSLY important part of good health, and if you're looking at GABA to help you sleep better, then I think you should at least understand the types.
GABA is an amino acid, and promotes relaxation by putting the brakes on neuron activity and stimulating the pituitary gland. However, there's a MAJOR POINT you need to know about GABA: there are two forms.

Two Forms of GABA
Just about any GABA products you run into -- find plenty of cheap options on Amazon -- are made of synthetic GABA and are produced in Chinese labs. This form is known as non-zwitterionic. It's a crazy word, but in short, when you read about GABA online and see people saying that it doesn't cross the blood-brain barrier (and therefore doesn't do you much good), this is because non-zwitterionic GABA relies on passive diffusion to get across this barrier.
However, there is a fermentation process (used to prepare certain Korean dishes) that's now being used to create a zwitterionic form of GABA, giving it the ability to cross the blood-brain barrier and gastrointestinal tract using active transport. Yes, this is a more expensive form of GABA, but if you're going to spend money on it at all, wouldn't you prefer a form that works?
We used to sell a product with this type of GABA, but unfortunately it's no longer available. However, I've discovered what may be the same type of GABA sold by other companies. You can get it under the name Pharma GABA, sold by several brands.

GABA Precautions
Since GABA is an amino acid (these make up the proteins in our body) that we already naturally use, there shouldn't be much risk in using it ... when used in moderation. Anything is a problem when we use more than our bodies want. So I recommend starting with less than one gram at a time and working your way up to no more than two grams before sleep.
Many people experience a "GABA tingle," and this could be disturbing if you've taken too much. I find it to be like a mini massage all over my body and I love it.
Many people also find that taking it during the day helps with concentration, but common sense tells you that if it's relaxing, you should get to know your results before taking GABA and then driving or using heavy equipment, etc.
Finally, some have suggested that supplementing GABA could be a problem for those with bipolar disorder. If you're seeing someone for mental health, make sure to ask them before supplementing with GABA.
